“Beginning Monday and continuing over the next few months, several streets throughout Matthews will be paved. Residents will be notified through door hangers and signs posted on the street.

The following roads are affected:
Rice Road from Idlewild Road to Sam Newell
Patten Hill Drive
Tilbury Trail Court
Nightshade Place
Thornblade Ridge Drive
Arborfield Drive
Elmsford Lane
Fullwood Lane from S. Trade Street to Avington
N. Trade Street from Park Center Drive to E. Matthews Street
Elizabeth Lane from Elizabeth Manor Court to Pineville Matthews Road

Work on Rice Road, Fullwood Lane, North Trade Street and Elizabeth Lane will not take place during rush hour.

Why these roads? The condition of our streets are rated every 3 to 4 years. Based on these ratings, we create an annual pavement maintenance plan. The maintenance plan takes into account the condition of the roads, budget, cost-effectiveness of various maintenance methods, among other things.”
